During a Time of Suffering and Wickedness

The Search for Righteousness
Righteousness is often sought in the midst of wickedness and suffering. Not because people suffer for their righteousness, but because their wicked ways are conquered by an even greater wickedness.

Throughout human history, wars, famines, and calamities have often driven people to seek God. Yet God’s righteousness and justice are not hidden, they are always present and available.

“I spread out my hands all day long to my rebellious people, who lived in a way that is morally unacceptable, and who did what they desired.”
Isaiah 65:2 (NET)

Still, Scripture reminds us of humanity’s failure to seek Him:

“God looks down from heaven at the human race, to see if there is anyone who is wise and seeks God.”
Psalm 53:2 (NET)

Habakkuk’s Cry for Justice
The prophet Habakkuk witnessed the persecution of his people and cried out to God, asking why injustice seemed to prevail. His lament is timeless, echoing the struggles of every generation:

“O LORD, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not listen? Or cry to you ‘Violence!’ and you will not save? … The law becomes slack, and justice never prevails. The wicked surround the righteous; therefore judgment comes forth perverted.”
Habakkuk 1:2–4

Yet God’s response was not silence. He commanded Habakkuk to wait for the appointed time, assuring him that His vision would come to pass:

“For there is still a vision for the appointed time; it speaks of the end and does not lie. If it seems to tarry, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their faithfulness.”
Habakkuk 2:3–4

The Limits of Human Law
History reveals that human law, no matter how well-crafted, cannot fully contain ambition or wickedness. In the hands of corrupt leaders, justice falters. Without honesty, loyalty, and compassion, laws are twisted, and injustice prevails.

This truth underscores the need for something greater than human governance: the righteousness of God.

God’s Answer: Faith, Hope, and Love
God’s response to Habakkuk and to all humanity is His unwavering faithfulness. God’s governance rests upon the pillars of faith, hope, and love. Through the sacrifice of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, God revealed that righteousness can only be attained through perfect obedience something no king or human could ever achieve. Left to ourselves, salvation would be impossible, and the judgment for our sins inevitable. Yet Jesus, in His perfect obedience, bore the punishment we deserved. By doing so, He received authority to forgive sins, opening the way to salvation. He carried the weight of our transgressions so that God’s righteousness might prevail.

How wonderful if we can have faith in nations leaders because the righteousness of God governs their hearts through faith more than any law. The assurance of honesty and trust and compassion is assured because of faith.

Repentance can become the turning point for change. And the love of Jesus is the hope that transforms every wicked hearts that seeks forgiveness and second chances. And through Christ’s resurrection, salvation was made complete.

The Triumph of God’s Love
Even when the world seems hopeless, God’s love has already prevailed. His promise is not for the proud, but for those who seek Him in humility and faith.

The message of Habakkuk still speaks today:

Wickedness may surround the righteous.
- Justice may seem delayed.
  - But God’s vision will not fail.

Through repentance and faith in Christ, righteousness is not only possible, it is assured.

In times of suffering and wickedness, the call remains the same: seek God, lean not on our own understanding, and live by faith. For though the world falters, His love endures forever.

Healing, and a Call to Persevere

Malachi 4:1-2

The Great Day of the Lord

4 “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. ²But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.

A Day of Healing for the Righteous
The prophet Malachi paints a vivid picture of a coming day of judgment:

“See, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble… But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings.”

Defining “arrogance and evil” in today’s world is not always simple. What one generation tolerates, the next normalizes. The challenge to us then believers, is our willingness to uphold righteousness in a culture that often embraces lies for the sake of comfort and acceptance. This passage reminds us that arrogance and evil will never endure before the Lord’s justice. But then, not everyone might be willing to endure for righteousness, therefore not everyone felt the need for any healing that the Lord provide mentioned on verse 2.

“²But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.“

The promise of healing in verse 2 emphasizes that it is tied to reverence for God’s name. Without the Lord, righteousness cannot rise like the sun, and healing will not come to those who suffer for Christ. The real question is not whether evildoers will be punished, for God’s judgment is certain, but whether we still long for the healing of the Lord. Do we still need the “sun of righteousness” to shine upon us? In a world where suffering for Jesus’ name is often avoided, the call remains: persevere, even when it costs us worldly security.

2 Thessalonians 3:6-13

Warning Against Idleness

⁶Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. ⁷For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, ⁸nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. ⁹It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate. ¹⁰For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. ¹¹For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. ¹²Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.

¹³As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.

Do What Is Right Paul exhorts the church to live responsibly and faithfully:

“Keep away from every brother or sister living irresponsibly… For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: anyone unwilling to work should not eat.”

Here, irresponsibility is not simply laziness—it is failing to do what is right. Paul and his companions modeled integrity, working diligently so as not to burden others. Their example reminds us to practice what we preach, to live what we say. The command is clear: avoid idleness, avoid being busybodies, and instead live quietly, earning one’s own living. Above all, Paul concludes with encouragement: “Do not be weary in doing what is right.”
In a world where compromise is easy, perseverance in righteousness remains essential.

Luke 21:5-19

Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple

⁵And while some were speaking of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said, ⁶“As for these things that you see, the days will come when there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” ⁷And they asked him, “Teacher, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when these things are about to take place?” ⁸And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them. ⁹And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end will not be at once.”

Jesus Foretells Wars and Persecution

¹⁰Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. ¹¹There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. ¹²But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake. ¹³This will be your opportunity to bear witness. ¹⁴Settle it therefore in your minds not to meditate beforehand how to answer, ¹⁵for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. ¹⁶You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers^[a] and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death. ¹⁷You will be hated by all for my name’s sake. ¹⁸But not a hair of your head will perish. ¹⁹By your endurance you will gain your lives.

Suffering for Jesus’ Sake
Jesus’ words about the temple remind us that outward adornments, however beautiful, hold no eternal value:

“And while some were speaking of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said, The days will come when not one stone will be left upon another; all will be thrown down.”

Our bodies are now temples of the Holy Spirit, yet we often adorn our lives with things we think are dedicated to God but which hold no true value in His sight. Jesus warns of wars, famines, false prophets, and persecution. Yet He insists: “Do not be terrified.” Persecution, betrayal, and hatred will come because of His name. But these trials are not meaningless—they are opportunities to testify. God promises wisdom that cannot be contradicted, comfort in suffering, and endurance that leads to salvation: “By your endurance you will gain your souls.”

The call is not to fight with politics or worldly arguments, but to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Salvation and forgiveness of sins restore what is broken. Repentance and perseverance in prayer sustain us. We cannot afford to say, “I can’t be bothered.” Instead, we must be those who feel the warm sunrise of the Lord’s righteousness, bringing healing even in the midst of suffering.

Conclusion:
Across Malachi, Thessalonians, and Luke, a consistent theme emerges: righteousness requires perseverance, truth demands courage, and suffering for Christ is accompanied with his healing power to those who carry the gospel into the world. The arrogant and evildoers will face judgment, but those who revere the Lord will rise with healing. In a world that normalizes compromise, the church is called to endure, to live responsibly, and to testify boldly. Healing, salvation, and redemption belong to those who suffer for the sake of the gospel. The sun of righteousness still rises, and with it, wings of healing for all who remain faithful.

After reading and understanding about this message, I want you to think about this question carefully.
“Are you healed?”

God Breaks the Man He Wants to Use

Job 1:13-22

Nalipol ang mga Anak ni Job at Naubos ang Kanyang Kayamanan

¹³Isang araw, nagkakainan at nag-iinuman ang mga anak ni Job sa bahay ng kanilang panganay na kapatid na lalaki. ¹⁴Walang anu-ano’y dumating kay Job ang isa niyang tauhan. Sinabi nito, “Kasalukuyan po naming pinang-aararo ang mga baka at nanginginain naman ang mga asno, ¹⁵nang may dumating na mga Sabeo.^[a] Kinuha po nila ang mga baka at mga asno at pinatay pa po ang aking mga kasama. Ako lang po ang nakatakas upang magbalita sa inyo.”

¹⁶Hindi pa ito nakakatapos sa pagbabalita nang may dumating na namang isa. Sinabi naman nito kay Job, “Tinamaan po ng kidlat ang mga tupa at mga pastol at namatay lahat; ako lang po ang nakaligtas upang magbalita sa inyo.”

¹⁷Hindi pa ito halos tapos magsalita nang may isa na namang dumating. Ang sabi nito, “Sinalakay po kami ng tatlong pangkat ng mga Caldeo.^[b] Kinuha nila ang lahat ng kamelyo at pinatay ang aking mga kasama. Ako lang po ang nakatakas upang magbalita sa inyo.”

¹⁸Hindi pa rin ito halos tapos magsalita nang may dumating na namang isa at nagsabi, “Habang ang mga anak po ninyo ay nagkakainan at nag-iinuman sa bahay ng panganay nilang kapatid, ¹⁹hinampas po ng napakalakas na hangin ang bahay at bumagsak. Nabagsakan po sila at namatay lahat. Ako lang po ang natirang buháy upang magbalita sa inyo.”

²⁰Tumayo si Job, pinunit ang kanyang damit at nag-ahit ng ulo. Pagkatapos, nagpatirapa siya at sumamba sa Diyos. ²¹Ang sabi niya, “Hubad akong lumabas sa sinapupunan ng aking ina, hubad din akong babalik sa lupa. Si Yahweh ang nagbigay, si Yahweh rin ang babawi. Purihin si Yahweh!”

²²Sa kabila ng mga pangyayaring ito, hindi niya sinisi ang Diyos, kaya’t hindi siya nagkasala laban sa kanya.

Lahat tayo ay nakaranas na ng pagkabigo o “breaking.” Ngunit hindi ibig sabihin nito na sisirain tayo ng Diyos. Sa halip, ito ang simula ng mas malalim na pagkilala sa ating sarili, at daan tungo sa tunay na kalayaan at kapayapaan.

Isaiah 61:1 — “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives…”

📌 Breaking is Not Punishment
Kapag dumadaan tayo sa breaking, madalas iniisip natin na parang pinaparusahan tayo ng Diyos. Ngunit ang totoo, ito ay paghahanda para sa mas mataas na antas ng maturity sa ating buhay.

Isang perpektong halimbawa si Job. Nawalan siya ng lahat—mga anak, ari-arian, at kalusugan—ngunit hindi niya itinuring na parusa ang kanyang karanasan. Sa halip, pinuri pa rin niya ang Panginoon.

📌 Breaking Breaks Away Self-Dependence
Nang mawalan si Job ng lahat, hindi niya minura o sinisi ang Diyos. Oo, nakaramdam siya ng lungkot, ngunit hindi ito naging dahilan para mawala ang kanyang pananampalataya.

Job 1:21 — “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Sa breaking, natututo tayong huwag umasa sa sarili kundi sa Diyos lamang. Dependence on God is our assurance—He will never fail us.

📌 Breaking Produces Humility
Kapag tayo ay nababasag, hinuhubog tayo ng Diyos sa pagpapakumbaba. At kapag tayo’y nagpapakumbaba, Siya ang magtataas sa atin.

James 4:10 — “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

Kaya huwag tayong magtaka kung bakit may breaking moments. Ito ay pagtuturo ng Diyos upang tayo’y maging mapagkumbaba.

📌 Through Breaking, God Prepares Us
Ang breaking ay hindi pagtatapos, kundi simula ng mas malaking layunin. Ang Diyos mismo ang bumabasag, at Siya rin ang nagbubuo.

Isipin ang isang jar na nabasag. Kapag muling pinagsama ang mga piraso, lumalabas ang kakaibang ganda at art. Ganoon din tayo—sa breaking, lumalabas ang tunay na tayo, walang pagkukunwari.

📌 Breaking Shapes Character
Bago natin makamtan ang ating mga layunin, binibigyan muna tayo ng Diyos ng mga pagsubok. Sa bawat trial, mas nagiging matatag tayo.

Oo, mapapagod tayo, ngunit huwag susuko. Ang mga pagsubok na ito ang humuhubog sa ating ugali at karakter. Sa breaking moments sinusubok ng Diyos kung lalayo ba tayo sa Kanya o mas lalo tayong lalapit.

📌 Breaking Releases True Power
Minsan, sa dami ng galit, sakit, at hinanakit, kapag tayo’y nabasag, lumalabas ang totoong kapangyarihan. Ngunit ang pinakamahalagang halimbawa ay si Jesus Christ.

Sa Kanyang breaking—ang sakit, sugat, dugo, at pagdurusa sa krus—lumabas ang pinakadakilang kapangyarihan: ang kaligtasan ng sanlibutan.

“By His wounds, you are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

Sa Kanyang kamatayan, binasag Niya ang kapangyarihan ng kasalanan. Sa Kanyang pagpapakumbaba hanggang kamatayan, ipinakita Niya ang tunay na kapangyarihan ng pag-ibig ng Diyos.

That is why God breaks the man He wants to use. Hindi kayang dalhin ng ating pride ang kaluwalhatian ng Diyos.

Kaya kapatid, kapag ang buhay ay tila binabasag ka, huwag mong isipin na ito ay rejection. Ito ay preparation.

Kapag binreak ka ni Lord, magmamatigas ka ba? O hahayaan mong Siya ang muling bumuo sa iyo?
